Vase

Unglazed stoneware vase. It is handmade, without a potter's wheel. I used the ancient technique called “coil building.” Long rolls of clay are stacked on top of each other to form the rough shape of the vase. When the clay reaches a drying point called the “leather stage,” the shape is refined to perfect its curves.
I decided not to glaze it because of the very special way it catches the light. It can simply become a black hole in shape of a vase, then appear as an elegant lady dressed in a velvet gown. Versatile. Or multiple
